Welcome to our classroom blog

September and October have been busy months in our classroom. We welcomed back our SK students and we very happy to introduce out JK students to life at Hillcrest Public School. Everyone has settled in very well and we are up and running full tilt!

In September we learned about each other and learned new routines and rules about school. We had two assemblies in September. One was our first day of school assembly and the other was to kick off our Terry Fox Run.

October has started of great. We have been enjoying the amazing weather and getting outside for lots of outdoor play. We took our classroom outside and took advantage of the fall colours and our wonderful stage to do some "fall painting" ( see pictures on the Look what we are doing page).

We have been exploring pumpkins. Thank you to some wonderful parent volunteers we have our very owl pumpkin patch outside. We have watched the pumpkins grow and explored the different stages of a pumpkin and where they grow. We have smelled pumpkins, felt them, looked at different kinds of pumpkins ( white, pink, blue, small, big). We cut open a pumpkin and explored the pulp and seeds. Stay tuned for the decomposing pumpkin!
We hope that your child has had as much fun as we have in the first two months of school! everyday is a new day filled with more adventures and learning.
